Mount clouds.
Save like it’s local.
Vardøger turns Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, SFTP and WebDAV into locally mounted drives on your desktop. See your entire cloud. Open any file. Save without losing it to a race condition.
Your data stays yours: no personal data, your files never touch our servers, and licensing is opaque hashes only.
Read the privacy policyWhat Vardøger does
Vardøger is a desktop application for Linux and Windows that mounts your cloud storage as a drive — the way plugging in a USB stick adds one. Connect a Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, SFTP or WebDAV account and its entire contents appear as ordinary files and folders you can browse and edit in any application. The files don’t have to live on your computer: they stay in the cloud and use local disk space only when you actually open one. You open, edit and save files directly on the mounted drive, with the applications you already use, and your changes are saved back to the cloud automatically — there’s no second copy sitting on your disk and no separate folder to keep in sync. When you’re done, you can unmount it like ejecting a USB drive. Connecting a Google Drive account uses Google’s standard OAuth sign-in, and your files travel directly between your device and Google — never through our servers.
How Vardøger uses your Google Drive data. When you connect a Google Drive account, Vardøger signs you in with Google’s OAuth and uses that access solely to list your Drive files and folders, download the files you open, and upload the changes you save — that is what lets your Drive appear as a mounted drive you can browse and edit. Your files and your Google credentials are handled on your device and move directly between your device and Google; they never pass through or sit on Vardøger’s servers, are never sold or used for advertising, and are never read by anyone. Your Google sign-in uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE, and the resulting access tokens are stored only in your device’s operating-system keychain — never on Vardøger’s servers. Vardøger’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Full detail is in our privacy policy.
A KeePassXC password database, kept on a cloud-mounted Google Drive, was destroyed mid-save.
One program was saving the file; another was uploading it. They reached for it at the same instant, and the database didn’t survive. The cause has a name — a race condition — and thousands of forum threads behind it.
This isn’t one app’s bug. Every cloud drive ever bolted onto a desktop has the same flaw: it looks and feels like a local disk, right up until the network and your work collide and something you cared about is gone. So people learn to cope — never edit anything important on the mount, always keep a copy, and hope.
Vardøger exists to end that. Save anything in your cloud, anywhere, and it’s done instantly and intact — your work is never the thing that breaks.
Two desktops at launch. One more on the way.
FUSE mounts from signed APT and DNF repositories, so updates arrive with the rest of your system. First-class CLI.
Cloud accounts mounted as drive letters via WinFsp, installed from a signed installer.
FUSE on macOS has gotten gnarly. We’re shipping it right — join the list to follow the beta.
Built by people who actually use more than one OS.
Edit on your cloud drive. Saves are instant — and never corrupt.
Open a file from your mounted cloud, edit it, and save — it’s done instantly, and a sync can never corrupt it mid-write. Work directly on the things you’d never risk on a cloud drive today: password databases, spreadsheets, live project files. Your changes reach the cloud and your other devices on their own.
Why this mattersSee your entire cloud, all the time.
No pre-selecting which folders to download. Your full Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, SFTP and WebDAV accounts are visible in every file picker, every editor, every shell — at full size. Files only take disk when you actually open them. Browse 5 TB on a 256 GB laptop without thinking about it.
One licence, four accountsAn encrypted vault you’d actually trust your tax records to.
Mark any folder as a vault and Vardøger encrypts it locally with keys that never leave your device — the provider only ever stores opaque ciphertext. Real key management: keyfiles as a physical second factor, multiple passwords, emergency recovery codes — not a password tucked into a plaintext config.
The vault uses only symmetric primitives — XChaCha20-Poly1305 and AES-256 with 256-bit keys, plus a memory-hard Argon2id KDF. There’s no public-key exchange, so Shor’s algorithm has nothing to attack. Grover’s halves symmetric strength at most — leaving 128-bit security, beyond brute-force reach.

Two machines, one file? Both versions survive.
When two machines edit the same file while you’re offline, Vardøger never silently overwrites one with the other. It keeps both versions and shows you what changed, so you decide what to keep. Nothing is lost to a last-write-wins race.

Pick a local folder. Sync it both ways, or back it up one way.
Beyond mounting the cloud as a drive, Vardøger does two old-fashioned, useful things with folders you already have. Sync keeps a local folder and a cloud destination in lockstep — both sides matter, conflicts surface for you to resolve. Backup treats your local folder as the source of truth and pushes a faithful mirror to the cloud. Previously browsed folders and pinned files keep working when you’re offline.
Sync vs backup, in detailEdit straight on the cloud — safely, by design.
Edit a file on a normal cloud drive — the way you already do on Windows, macOS, and Linux — but without the corrupted or false saves that can silently lose your work. Vardøger is built, first and foremost, for resilience: to network drops, crashes, and OS glitches.
Vardøger columns trace to our implementation — atomic save, journaled cache, resumable uploads, and a persistent retry queue.
Your data stays yours.
No accounts. No telemetry. No middleman for your files.
No personal data
No telemetry, no account, no user database. Vardøger doesn’t know who you are.
Files go point-to-point
Your files move directly between your device and your cloud provider — they never transit or sit on Vardøger’s infrastructure.
Licensing is just hashes
The licensing layer stores only opaque cryptographic hashes — never your email, name, or account ID.

Why now. And why always.
The race condition has been there as long as the cloud has been mountable.
It bites two ways: saves that corrupt or vanish the moment you write them, and a mount that locks up your file manager and drags the whole system to a crawl. Vardøger is built so neither happens — your saves are instant and intact, and the mount never blocks your desktop on the network, online or off.
